Professional and Executive Education Programs

UGHE’s Professional and Executive Education Programs equip health professionals, educators, and innovators with the skills to drive systemic change. From the PgCert in Health Professions Education to the East Africa Biodesign (EAB) Fellowship and specialized executive programs, we empower leaders to advance equitable, sustainable health systems. 

Participants engage in fieldwork and classroom learning, leveraging case studies, experiential methods, and individual mentorship. Faculty include experts from institutions like Harvard Medical School, Yale University, and Rwanda’s Ministry of Health. Programs examine healthcare implementation in Rwanda and globally, empowering learners to apply solutions in their own contexts. 

Transformative leadership development ensures graduates are equipped to deliver impactful, value-based healthcare programs. Alumni benefit from a global community of practice, fostering ongoing collaboration across borders. 

Impact since 2016:

536 leaders trained across 52 countries globally. 

Existing Education Programs

  • Global Health Delivery Leadership Program, (GHDLP), with Anglophone and Francophone cohorts. In partnership with the Global Fund.  
  • Global Health Academy on Community Health Resilience Program, in partnership with the Aspen Global Innovators Group. 
  • Building Resiliency in Health Care Delivery Program, in partnership with Exemplars in Global Health. 
  • Disease Elimination & Eradication Course, Strategies for Infectious Diseases in Low- and Middle-Income Countries, in partnership with the New York University’s Global Institute for Disease Elimination.  
  • The Atlantic Fellows for Health Equity convening Program, in partnership with George Washington University 
  • Digital Health Applied Leadership Program (DHALP), a consortium to deliver training in digital health leadership in sub-Saharan Africa. 
  • National Health Information Management Executive Leadership Program, in this program, participants experience and learn about innovative digital health systems and strategies, specifically the DHIS2 interventions successfully implemented in Rwanda. 
  • Health Financing Leadership and Practice (HFLP), developed in collaboration with USAID-RHISA, HFLP is a certificate course designed to equip health leaders with skills they need to deliver evidence-based health financing strategies in their own context. 
  • National Health Insurance Scheme Program, the program designed for Nigerian participants, provides a forum for knowledge exchange and experience sharing in developing the most suitable national health insurance system.
