The Department of Human Anatomy plays a pivotal role in the education of medical students, specializing in anatomy, histology, and embryology. The department offers comprehensive instruction by utilizing histological slides that cover all bodily systems, enabling students to explore the intricate microscopic structures of various organs.
A unique aspect of the program is the anatomy practical sessions, which include a one-week dissection bootcamp held at the University of Rwanda's Huye campus, where students gain hands-on experience working with cadavers. Additionally, the department boasts two state-of-the-art Anatomage tables in the UGHE simulation laboratory. These advanced tools are extensively used to facilitate hands-on practical assignments, allowing students to deepen their understanding of anatomical concepts.
The Department of Human Anatomy is also committed to advancing the field through dedicated anatomical research, contributing to the broader scientific community's knowledge.
