Community

Community

At UGHE, our community forms the foundation of our mission to transform health education and advance global health equity. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where students, faculty, and staff work together to achieve shared goals. This collaborative approach emphasizes leadership, engagement, and the pursuit of initiatives that extend learning beyond the classroom. Through these efforts, we aim to foster both personal and professional development for every member of our diverse community.

Student Council

The UGHE Student Council serves as the unified voice of our student body, bridging communication between peers and university leadership. By organizing campus-wide activities, academic and research events, and community projects, the council nurtures a supportive and collaborative culture, empowering students to develop leadership skills and actively contribute to the university's mission.

At UGHE, our community is the core of everything we do, seamlessly interconnected through:

  • Campus Community: Our students, faculty, and staff who create a vibrant, collaborative learning environment.
  • Alumni & Partners: A global network of graduates and collaborators who contribute to advancing global health equity.

Butaro Community: The local community in Rwanda, whose involvement is essential to the practical application of our work.

We are deeply committed to community engagement and recognize the critical role of local communities in shaping effective, sustainable healthcare solutions. Through initiatives like the Global Community-Based Education Program, our students work alongside Butaro’s residents, gaining firsthand experience and understanding of social determinants of health and the importance of culturally sensitive healthcare.

At UGHE, community is more than just a concept - it is the foundation of our mission. Together, we learn, grow, and make meaningful strides in improving global health.

Student Groups

UGHE offers a vibrant selection of student-led organizations spanning arts, global health, research, and cultural activities. These groups create opportunities for students to develop key skills in a collaborative and supportive setting, promoting well-rounded personal and professional growth.

Some of our vibrant student groups include:
